Dhamma Sermon and Multilingual Performance Day 2025
The Dhamma Sermon and Multilingual Performance Day 2025, organized by the Department of Language Skills Development, was successfully held on 9th April 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.
During the event, student monks delivered Dhamma sermons in six languages:Tamil, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and French demonstrating both their linguistic proficiency and deep understanding of the Dhamma. In parallel, lay students performed in the same six languages, showcasing their multilingual talents. Participants were awarded certificates and gifts in recognition of their contributions.
A highlight of the day was the official launch of the department’s bi-annual, peer-reviewed e-journal, Journal of Multilingual Studies.
The event was graced by the presence of the Venerable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Neluwe Sumanawansa Thero; the Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies, Ven. Prof. Gonadeniye Pannarathana Thero; the Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, Ven. Chair Prof. Homagama Dhammananda Thero; along with numerous academic and non-academic staff members and students.
