Korean Delegation Visits Buddhist and Pali University
On May 21, 2024, a delegation from South Korea visited the Buddhist and Pali University. The group consisted of 18 students enrolled in the Diploma in Buddhist Studies program at Donggook Buddhist Chonbop College, which is affiliated with the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. The Chairman of Donggook Buddhist Chonbop College, Dr. Hu Sung Hyun, was also part of the delegation.
During their visit, the delegation offered scholarships to students majoring in Korean at the Buddhist and Pali University. They also proposed the introduction of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Buddhist Studies at Donggook Buddhist Chonbop College, highlighting the significant benefits it would bring to the people of South Korea.
The delegation was welcomed by Ven. Prof. Neluwe Sumanawansa Thero, the Vice Chancellor of Buddhist and Pali University; Ven. Prof. Moragollagama Uparathana Thero, the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies; Ven. Prof. Gonadeniye Pannarathana Thero, the Coordinator of Foreign Affiliated Colleges; Dr. E. G. I. P. Wickramasinghe, Head of the Department of Language Skills Development; Ms. Gaya Ariyawanse, the Lecturer in Charge of Korean Language Studies and Mr. E. A. Gunasena, the Registrar of the Buddhist and Pali University.
