Undergraduate Conference on Buddhism and Sustainable Development 2018
Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka located in Homagama is promoting Pali language and Buddhist studies while making erudite dhamma missionary monks and scholars disciplined through the mastery of the Buddhism. In order to achieve this endeavor the university conducts varied academic functions in every year. The “Undergraduate Conference on Buddhism and Sustainable Development” organized by the Department of Buddhist Culture representing the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka is the most recent academic event successfully conducted by the university with the participation of diverse young scholars from more than 10 universities and some other higher educational institutes in Sri Lanka. This major national event was addressed by the eminent scholar Dr. Wimal Hewamanage as the key note speaker. The most venerable vice chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka and both academic and non-academic staff participated in this gigantic event while hundreds of academicians participated in the conference on 26th September 2018. This national academic event was held with the blessings of the Most Venerable Vice Chancellor, Ven. Senior Prof. Gallelle Sumanasiri Thero, and under the guidance of Prof. Samantha Ilangakoon, the Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies of Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. The event is organized by the lecturers of the department of Buddhist Culture under the leadership of Ven. Senior lecturer. Aluthgama Wimalarathana, Department of Buddhist Culture.
