English Teaching workshop for Pirivena Students - Sri Dharmodaya Pirivena, Wellawatte
An English Teaching workshop for Pirivena Students, organized by the Department of English of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka was held on Tuesday, 16th May 2023, from 1 pm to 5 pm, at Sri Dharmodaya Pirivena in Wellawatte. Students from Grades 3, 4 & 5 from 9 Pirivenas in the Colombo district participated in the workshop.
The main purpose of the workshop was to offer our English medium undergraduates a valuable opportunity to be exposed to English language teaching and participate in effective activity planning. Additionally, the event aimed to inspire and encourage the students of the pirivenas to enhance their English language skills. A total of nine first-year students, including both local and foreign undergraduates, actively took part in the programme. Dr. Waruni Tennakoon (Head/ Senior Lecturer), Dr. Nipunika Dilani (Senior Lecturer) and Ms. Binuri Ruwanpura (Visiting Lecturer) engaged in the teaching process at the workshop.
