Assumption of Duties by Senior Lecturer Dr. Swarnananda Gamage as the Dean of Faculty of Language Studies
Dr. Swarnananda Gamage (Senior Lecturer - Grade I), the newly elected Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies assumed duties on 28th December 2022. He was schooled at Nittambuwa Sangabodhi National School, and started his professional career as an English teacher at 21 at a school in Nikaweratiya. Dr. Gamage joined the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka in 2001 and counts nearly 21 years of service at the English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU), now a department; ELTD. He pioneered the establishment of the ELTU at the university and played an indispensable role in making it a department. He has held many administrative positions and he served as the Head of the English Language Teaching Department (ELTD) until he assumed duties as the Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies.
After obtaining his BA degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Dr. Gamage completed his MA in Drama and Theatre, MA, Mphil and PhD in Linguistics from the University of Kelaniya. We congratulate Dr. Swarnananda Gamage, the newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.
