Assumption of Duties as the Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies
Senior Lecturer Ven. Beragama Saddhananda Thero, who was appointed as the 9th Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, is the second alumnus of the university to hold this post.
Having entered the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka as an undergraduate in the academic year 2008, he graduated in 2011 with First Class Honours in Archaeology. He then obtained the M.Sc. in Archaeology from the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology (PGIAR), University of Kelaniya.
He joined the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka as a Lecturer (Probationary) in 2014, was appointed as a Lecturer in 2017, and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2019.
Having served as the Head of the Department of Archaeology from 2020 to 2025, he has now been appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies for a period of three years, starting from 24.05.2025.
