Launching the Second Volume of the Journal 'Mimasisara'
The second volume of the journal 'Mimasisara' published by the student union affiliated to the department of Buddhist Philosophy was launched on 18th of November 2015 at the university main auditorium. The editor Venerable Yodhakandiye Ariyavansa Thero, who had already completed the bachelor of arts degree in English medium with a fist class in the field of Buddhist Studies compiled the volume endowed with 46 articles written by the academic staff including the visiting lecturers and the students. The volume was named as an honour to Most Venerable Professor Ekiriyagala Nanda Thero, who is to retire next year.
The keynote speaker was the former Vice-chancellor, Most Venerable Professor Ittademaliye Indasara Thero who made the foreword to the volume. During the speech, he venerated the service offered by Most Venerable Professor Ekiriyagala Nanda Thero to the University admiring his academic performance. Further, the speaker elaborated the articles written by the students, as it is a great contribution to the future of the university.
The Vice-chancellor, Most Venerable Professor Gallelle Sumanasiri Thero, the dean of the faculty of Buddhist Studies, Most Venerable Professor Wawwe Dhammarakkhita Thero, the head of the Department of Buddhist Philosophy, Most Venerable Senior Lecturer Dr. Pitigala Vijitha Thero, former Vice-chancellor, Most Venerable Ittademaliye Indasara Thero, Most Venerable Ekiriyagala Nanda Thero, emeritus Professor Daya Edirisinghe, all the heads of the departments, the academic staff, officers, non-academic staff, and the students were present in the ceremony.
