Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka had its first literary festival, “Sahithaya Sankathana” on 13th, 14th, and 15th of September marking the celebrations of National Literary month. This provided a grand opportunity for the academic staff and the undergraduates to perform their unique academic, creative, literary and multilingual endeavors.
The festival inaugurated with the launch of the peer-reviewed journal of BPU Journal of Buddhist Studies and Humanities which contained a collection of academic and research articles of the academic staff. The literary dialogue on “Is Realism Outdated” captured special attention of the audience and this session fulfilled the university’s contribution to the society in raising the social consciousness towards the literary realism. The session was embellished by the speeches of the veterans of the realm like Ven. Prof. Nawagamuwe Rewath, Ven. Prof. Agalakada Sirisumana, Kuliyapitiye Siri Prananda, Jackson Anthony and Eric Illiyapparachchi.
