Vision

Center of intense Buddhist intellectual inquiry, the most dynamic learning environment in the world in the teachings of the Buddha; ensure its collections remain scholarly, intellectual and diverse in breadth and form; open to exploring, and of world-renowned quality; with the resources available to users for excellence in support for the learning, teaching and research; through cutting-edge innovations made access to these resources easier; preserve information across all formats that ensure effective storage and delivery systems for serving all users; fosters and nourishes circles of partners yielding unified access both in and outside Sri Lanka to broaden knowledge and reach a high standard in virtue.

Mission

The mission of the library of the Buddhist and Pali University is to provide comprehensive and innovative resources and services in support of research, teaching, and learning needs of the University user community and the other circles of partners both in and outside Sri Lanka as one of the most prestigious universities in the world. To fulfill this mission, the Library commits to:

• Provide a pleasant, user oriented and user centered learning environment;
• Provide the information and services of highest quality through effective management of resources and skills for teaching, learning and researching, by understanding and learning the needs of its users;
• Build collections and create tools to support research, teaching, and learning and disseminate relevant information on right time to facilitate the teaching, and learning and research;
• Assist and provide access and promote the discovery and use of local and external information resources;
• Ensure the preservation and long-lasting availability of Library collections and resources.
• Collaborate with other members of the University to enrich the research and learning community;
• Advance and link with local, national, and international library and information initiatives;
• Develop, encourage, and sustain expertise, skill, commitment and an innovative spirit in the staff of the library of the Buddhist and Pali University.
