Dept. of Religious Studies and Comparative Philosophy is one of the main departments under the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, introduced in 1996. Presently department conducts lectures on Religious Studies only and in near future would be able to start lectures on Comparative Philosophy. Now students can choose Religious Studies as a B. A. General Degree subject. We are planning to introduce Special Degree Program in this subject as interest in this subject is growing up. Department conducts lectures and instructions both in Sinhala and English medium. Permanent academic staff includes a professor and a probationary lecturer and we invite professors and visiting lecturers from other universities as requirements arise. We guide students from Undergraduates to Doctoral degrees. No other universities in Sri Lanka offering the subject of Religious Studies as a separate subject. Annually a large number of local and foreign students take this subject as a part of their degree course.
